X-linked ectodermal dysplasia is an inherited disorder of the ectoderm. Two types are recognized: X-linked hyopohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia [ectodermal dysplasia - X-linked hyopohidrotic] and X-linked hyopohydrotic/anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia [ectodermal dysplasia - X-linked hyopohidrotic/anhidrotic].  X-linked ectodermal dysplasia is associated with hypotrichosis.
