Maffucci syndrome is a rare developmental syndrome named in honor or the Italian physician Angelo Mafucci (1847-1903) characterized by numerous cavernous hemangiomas [hemangioma - cavernous] as well as multiple enchondromas [enchondroma - multiple] and exostoses. The enchondromas and exostoses mainly affect mainly the bones of the hands.
