Diseases of the kidney are common and many involve the eye. These conditions include diabetes mellitus, Potter syndrome, oculocerebrorenal syndrome, Alport syndrome, renal-coloboma syndrome, cytomegalovirus infection, Goodpasture syndrome, tuberous sclerosis, Wilms tumor and renal cell carcinoma [carcinoma - renal cell]. The numerous renal diseases include glomerulonephritis, diabetic glomerulosclerosis [glomerulosclerosis - diabetic], pyelonephritis and necrotizing papillitis [papillitis - necrotizing]. Diseases of the kidney can cause uremia, renal failure and death.
