Familial exudative vitreoretinopathy type I (FEVR type I, autosomal dominant familial exudative vitreoretinopathy, OMIM # 133780) is one of three types of  familial exudative vitreoretinopathy. This familial disease has an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance and is caused by a mutation in the FZD4 gene. FEVR type I needs to be differentiated from the other two types of FEVR: familial exudative vitreoretinopathy type II and familial exudative vitreoretinopathy type III. FEVR type I and it may be allelic with the autosomal recessive FEVR type III which has been mapped to human chromosome 11 (11q13.4).
