An astrocytic hamartoma is a hamartoma composed of hyperplastic nodular foci of astrocytes. It is found on the inner surface of the retina in tuberous sclerosis and occasionally in the retina of newborn infants with anencephaly. The astrocytic nodules are often situated over veins.
